Excursion to Mtskheta + visit to Mukhrani (without lunch)
Маршрут и детали
The history of Georgia goes back many millennia and is directly connected with Christianity. Today we will be dedicated to the spiritual and aristocratic page of the history of Georgia.
Our tour will begin with a meeting with a guide and driver in the lobby of your hotel. The first stop on our program will be in Jvari, the cross monastery, to which the following famous lines by M.Yu. Lermontov are dedicated:
"A few years ago,
Where, merging, they make noise,
Having embraced, like two sisters,
The streams of the Aragvi and the Kura,
There was a monastery"
The observation deck of Jvari offers a stunning view of the city of Mtskheta and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, which will be our next stop on the Route.
Svetitskhoveli, according to legend, built on the orders of Saint Nino, is the cathedral patriarchal church of the Georgian Orthodox Church in honor of the twelve Apostles, in the city of Mtskheta, which for a thousand years was the main cathedral of all Georgia.
Next we will walk along the streets of Mtskheta, a city included in the UNESCO cultural heritage, try Turkish coffee on the sand and buy famous Georgian souvenirs. The last point of our day will be Chateau Mukhrani - the residence of the princes Bagration-Mukhransky. The construction of Chateau Mukhrani lasted 12 years. The exotic word "chateau" in the name justified itself not only in the decoration of the estate (for the first time in Georgia, parquet, a gilded piano and billiards appeared here, Chateau Mukhrani was decorated with gilded furniture in the "rococo" style ordered from Italy, huge crystal chandeliers sparkled under the ceilings painted by European masters, reflecting in a truly royal gilded piano), but also in the fact that the winery built here produced wines using European technology. At the Chateau we will have a tour and wine tasting.
