Walking tour of Tbilisi and Mtskheta.
At different times, the capital of Georgia was either in Tbilisi or in Mtskheta. You can’t know the country if you do not visit these places.
Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia, which has absorbed so many eras and cultures that even local residents don’t know all the mysteries and secrets that keep the labyrinths of this warm and beautiful city. Beautiful carved balconies, unique ceremonial, famous Tbilisi courtyards, this is all that the city is famous for.
"A few years ago,
Where, merging, they make noise
Hugging like two sisters
Jets of Aragva and Hens,
There was a monastery "
These famous lines are written by M.Yu. Lermantov about the cross monastery - Jvari, our first stop. Jvari is a christian monastery of the 7th century.
Then we will go to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and visit the Svetitskhoveli temple, where by giving there are many Orthodox values, such as the tunic of Christ, the mantle of Elijah the Prophet, the heel of St. Andrew the First-Called.
Breakfast.
Today we are heading south of Georgia. Our first stop will be the famous balneological resort - Borjomi. Borjomi is a resort in the center of Georgia, famous throughout the former Soviet Union for its sources of healing mineral water. The name of the city has two Georgian roots: “Borzh” - “fortress, wall” and “Omi” - “war, battle”. In ancient times, the city of Borjomi was a natural fortress, the walls of which served as the mountains of the Caucasus. We will visit the famous Borjomi park with you and try the water from the Ekaterinensky spring.
After visiting Borjomi, we will visit the Bakuriani ski resort, where you will have free time for skiing or exploring the surroundings from the cable car.
Tour starts at 10:00. After breakfast, we head to Tsaghkadzor, a modern ski resort located 60 km northeast of Yerevan, at 1845 m above sea level. It’s one of the most popular resorts in Armenia, perfect for active holidays. You’ll find ski equipment rental, ski school with instructors, a gym, billiards, table tennis, leisure center, restaurants, cafés, and more. The ski season lasts from mid-November to mid-April.
Next, we visit Lake Sevan, the “Blue Pearl” of Armenia and the largest lake in the Caucasus, located at 1900 m altitude. 28 rivers flow into it, but only one — the Hrazdan — flows out.
We’ll explore Sevanavank Monastery, built in 874, on the peninsula. Lunch at a local restaurant includes a BBQ made with local Sevan trout.
Return to Yerevan. Overnight stay in Yerevan.
The tour starts at 10:30. Breakfast at the hotel, then a trip to Garni and Geghard.
On the way, we’ll stop at Charents Arch, with a breathtaking view of the Biblical Mount Ararat and the valley below.
Garni Pagan Temple is the only Hellenistic-style structure preserved in Armenia. Located 28 km from Yerevan, it was built in the 1st century AD by King Trdat I and dedicated to the Sun God Mithra. After Armenia adopted Christianity, the temple wasn’t destroyed and became a royal summer residence. It was heavily damaged by an earthquake in 1679, and restoration began in 1966, lasting nearly 10 years. You’ll also see remains of the ancient fortress, royal palace, and a fascinating bathhouse with mosaic floors and mysterious inscriptions.
Next, we visit the Geghard Monastery, 9 km from Garni. Founded in the 12–13th centuries, it was originally known as Ayrivank (Cave Monastery) and later renamed Geghard (Spear), after the Holy Lance that, according to legend, pierced Christ. The complex includes the main church Katoghike, cave churches, chapels, and St. Mary’s Church — the oldest part.
Lunch with lavash baking and dessert masterclasses. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.
