Itinerary: TEA PLANTATIONS – SHEMOKMEDI – GOMIS MTA – LUNCH
Did you know that Georgia is famous not only for its wine but also for its tea plantations? Today, we invite you to embark on a fascinating journey to Georgia's tea plantations and experience an extraordinary natural phenomenon – rise above the clouds.
Our first stop will be at the tea plantations in the Guria region, where you will learn about the history of Georgian tea, see how it is grown, harvested, dried, and brewed. After the tour, a tea tasting will await us.
Next, we will head to a remarkable place – the Shemokmedi Monastery, which consists of two churches and a bell tower built in the 16th century. The right church, dating back to the 12th century, is called "Divinity," and on the left is "Zarzma," from the 16th century. It was specially built by King Vakhtang I Gurieli in 1572 because he wanted to house the Transfiguration icon that had been buried in the Zarzma Monastery in the 16th century.
Then, we will proceed to the final destination of our journey – Gomis Mta, a small and cozy village in the mountain part of Guria, which, due to its location on the slopes of the mountains, seems to be lost in the sky among the clouds. Nothing can convey this beauty – it is worth seeing at least once in your lifetime. Lunch in Gomis Mta. Return to Kobuleti/Batumi.
